We are jumping right into our curriculum with our first unit, the Big Bang. I am going to start off real slow and introduce a lot of material to give the students a good base knowledge before we get into any complicated information. Students might struggle with this unit based off their prior knowledge, which I'm sure is very limited. I hope to inspire some awe in the students at the vastness of the universe and how amazing it is. If there are any questions please email me.
The week will look like this approximately:

Monday : Astronomy pre-test, drawing the universe (in the students eyes)
Tuesday: Introducing the solar system, galaxy and universe, scaling out the solar system
Wednesday: "How the Big Bang Theory Works" article with questions, introduce                                                       protons/electrons
Thursday: How the Universe Works video w/ worksheet, Big Bang Twitter account activity
Friday: Finish Twitter activity

parent signatures on the syllabus and safety contracts due this Friday, August 22nd.
