week of 10/21 - 10/24

This week we are starting a new unit on cell membranes and material movement (diffusion/osmosis). This section will have plenty of labs to show how membranes allow certain materials into the cell but other molecules need other means to enter the cell. The material movement is probably the most difficult part of the section. Kids struggle with grasping the concept of how and why material flow in or out of a cell.

This week's plan (approx.)
Monday 10/20:  No School
Tuesday 10/21:  Baggie Lab, drawing the cell membrane
Wednesday 10/22: Finish Baggie Lab, Membrane notes
Thursday 10/23: Membrane coloring worksheet
Friday 10/24: Start Egg Lab, Membrane/Material Movement Vocab

***we will quiz over the cell membrane and material movement on Wednesday, November 5th***

Short video on the very basics of the cell (plasma) membrane

GREAT video on types of transport and cell membrane 11-ish minutes long, but still awesome
